Un jeune couple acquiert un ancien atelier d’artiste situé dans une petite impasse. Malgré la présence d’une remarquable verrière en double hauteur, l’appartement souffrait d’une organisation fragmentée, avec une cuisine fermée et plusieurs pièces exiguës.

Le déplacement de l’escalier permet de réorganiser entièrement le logement, en créant une chambre d’amis au niveau inférieur et une chambre-bureau à l’étage. La nouvelle distribution libère un grand espace traversant réunissant salon, salle à manger, cuisine et espace de lecture, tout en ouvrant les vues vers l’horizon parisien.

Un meuble sur mesure accompagne les différents usages et structure les espaces. Les matériaux naturels, tels que la terre cuite et le cèdre, confèrent au projet une atmosphère chaleureuse, apaisée et sincère.

A young couple purchased a former artist’s studio located in a small mews. While defined by a remarkable double-height glazed partition, the apartment suffered from a fragmented layout with a small enclosed kitchen and several undersized rooms.

Relocating the staircase allowed the apartment to be completely reorganized, creating a guest bedroom on the lower level and a bedroom-study above. The new layout opens up a generous cross-plan living space that brings together the living, dining, kitchen, and reading areas while extending views toward the Paris skyline.

A bespoke piece of joinery structures the different spaces and supports everyday use. Natural materials such as terracotta flooring and cedar joinery create a warm, calm, and honest atmosphere throughout the project.
